How did you get started in the business?

I joined after graduating from Raffles Junior College when I was 20 years old. I was a scholar under the A*STAR Scientist programme. I was supposed to go to United Kingdom to further my studies to become a scientist. While waiting for university to start, I came across a Sales Executive job posting online. I have always wanted to own a business; hence I wanted to gather sales experience. When I came for the interview, it sounded very challenging, but I still decided to give it a go.

What has your journey within the business been like so far?
When I first started in the business, I was very driven by money and career progression. However, for the past two years, I have shifted my focus to coaching people and developing myself to be a better Leader. I realised that I enjoyed myself a lot more and as a result there was more success within the organisation. Today, I can proudly say that I love what I do.

What has been your biggest achievement so far?

Having four major promotions in the last three months! This includes three Assistant Owner promotions and one Owner Partner promotion.

What advice would you give to someone starting their journey with the business?

Everything you will achieve in your life begins with your perspective. If you think you can, you are right. If you think you can’t, you are right too. You can only achieve what your mind can perceive. Do not be afraid to imagine, dream and believe.

Where do you see yourself in five years’ time?

I see myself passing on the success to the Owner Partners and Owners in my organisation and the rest of Appco.

Also, working as a partner of Terrence Tey, Wong Chee Wai and James Greaves to develop and strategize Appco’s future business as a whole. Lastly, I see myself opening outside businesses in various industries and engaging Appco as a sales channel to increase the market share of those businesses.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to expand the business in all different areas and promote Owners that venture overseas. I want to also take up various projects in different industries and successfully coach different types of people from different walks of life.

Business Goals – I want to become a Vice President in the next two years and promote 25 first generation Owners in the next four years. In addition, I want to coach and develop 10 millionaires in the next 10 years.

Personal Goals – I would like to open up an institution within the next five years to coach people from different walks of life on leadership, personal development and entrepreneurship. Also, I would like to own two properties in Singapore and 10 properties overseas in the next five years. Most importantly, I want to be a respected Leader and a pillar of support for my organisation.

What are you hoping to accomplish by the end of the year?

I hope to promote eight Owner Partners and Owners and to have an administration team of 10 people.

How do you relax away from the office?

I like to getaway to a country on my bucket list, for e.g. Maldives, Japan and Korea. I also plan to visit Bora Bora in December 2015. On a day to day basis, I enjoy a long jog, reading a book on a lazy Sunday afternoon with a cup of camomile tea or going for a swim and ending the day with a glass of wine.
