When I was 22 years old, I went backpacking across Australia on a working holiday from South Korea. I wanted to earn some cash, improve my English, and have fun. I joined Appco in August 2010 when I knew I could tick all three boxes. I worked hard and progressed quickly, advancing to Assistant Ownership in just seven months. After 18 months living and working in Australia, I had the opportunity to move to Japan where I spent a further six months working closely with Vice Presidents Taras Koochin and Tony Fernandez. I was honoured and privileged to be selected to move to South Korea and open Appco Group Korea in November 2012.
What has your journey within the business been like so far?
It’s been a journey centred on learning and self-development. When I first moved to Australia, I found that English was challenging for me and the culture so different to Korea. It took time, determination, and passion to succeed to better myself to grow and progress in the business. Today, I am more confident and have learned to “never give up”. This business has allowed me to develop my business skills, communication skills, public speaking skills, emotional intelligence, and self-control.
What has been your biggest achievement so far?
I am proud of establishing and growing Appco Group Korea over the last two years. We currently have close to 100 Field Representatives with two Assistant Managers and a second location, which was newly opened in City Hall. We recently achieved a country best of 1,099 sales.I have had the privilege of travelling to UK, Bali, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Japan, and Australia in recent years for learning and networking trips with the company. Also, I’ve bought my first property.
What advice would you give to someone starting their journey within the business?
I would say enjoy every single moment in this business, and it is important to have a specific business and personal goal that you work towards achieving every day. As you progress through the career development path on your journey to Ownership, ensure you spend time with the right people.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
I see myself on a beach somewhere in Europe, looking good with a six-pack, and doing what I want to do, rather than what I have to do! I want to have a healthy asset portfolio and be completely financially secure by the age of 30.What are your plans for the future?
Personally, I want to become a husband and a good father. In business, I want to be a successful Entrepreneur and expand my business into China.
500 offices in Korea and run a billion dollar company
laugh and love more, have a convertible car, build my own house with a swimming pool, have a driver, find love, and go skydiving.I want to be happy with who I am and what I do, and to be surrounded by the people I love.
What are you hoping to accomplish by the end of this year?
I see Appco Group Korea expanding to 150 – 200 Field Representatives with four Marketing Offices.
How do you relax away from the office?
I like to rest and to get lots of sleep. I also enjoy seeing a movie, meeting with friends, travelling, reading, and setting goals for the future.
